JOB PURPOSE
The HR Director leads the Onboard HR Team and acts as the onboard HR business partner, providing pragmatic and sound advice to the Master of the Vessel and the management team. Champions company values and their effective application.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Partners with senior leaders, ship and shore, to diagnose people requirements and develop effective solutions that support the ship as the business needs evolve, guided by company values.
• Working closely with the Crew Office ensures correct and timely implementations of processes & procedures such as: Couple Policies, Internal Mobility, Change in Contract Period, Compassionate Leaves, Resignations, Engagement Proposal, etc.
• Working closely with the Master/Staff Captain/Chief Security/HoDs, acting as a neutral adviser creating a safe work environment and a consistent application of disciplinary actions. Leads investigations pertaining to them, as per Rule of Shipboard conduct, keeping the Staff Captain and shoreside representatives (MSC CM UK) appraised as appropriate.• In cooperation with the Staff Captain, is responsible for investigations involving the Crew and takes part in the disciplinary actions;
• Is responsible for the correct implementation of the performance management process and addresses any concerns as needed.
• Monitors shipboard operations to ensure they are in compliance with HR Policies and Procedures, Global HESS, MLC 2006, relevant Fleet Regulations and other applicable internal, external, and governmental regulations at all times; promptly reports any deficiencies to the Master and the Shoreside HR Team as relevant.
• Ensures all Learning & Development activities are organized and delivered in line with Corporate HR guidelines and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)
• MA in HRM/HRD or Psychology or Business Administration and/or CIPD qualified.
• 5-years previous experience in a similar role, managing hundreds of employees in a multinational context. Previous experience of this role in the cruise industry is a strong advantage.
• Experience of managing complex employee relations cases and change management programs.
• Ability to develop professional relationships and establish credibility quickly providing authoritative advice on complex workforce issues and demonstrate advanced influencing/negotiating/presentation skills.
• Extensive knowledge of maritime industry regulations, laws and MLC 2006
• Good knowledge of MS Office, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint.
• Fluent in English (C1 level) and any other language is a great advantage.

Possess a valid passport and when possible a seaman book
